Artist Statement

I create artwork because I love doing it. My goals when creating a new piece is to make that specific body of work to the best of my ability and to expresses a specific emotion, memory, or feeling. My long term goals with art would be to start using a wheel and making smoother, more practical pieces of art. When making a new body of work the ideas I focus on usually fall under the categories of family, nature, or memories.

Selecting materials for my artwork isn't a difficult process. I mainly enjoy working with clay. I love using my family as inspiration because they impact my life everyday. It come naturally to have your artwork focus on a subject that means a lot to the artist. I research some ideas using pinterest. This website has a lot of creative, and unique designs. I can tell when I am ably to look at it and not find anything else I want to change or fix. When I finally finish a piece, there is a sense of accomplishment and success.

I have learned a lot about myself  in the past two years of 3D art then I thought I would. I have learned how much my family come through in my life, what experience effected me the most, my emotions and feelings at times, and how art is a way for me to distress. Artwork to me is a way to escape the world and create my own. I currently am working on a wheel in my garage my dad had in the attic for years. I remember last year and how amateur my artwork was last year. I feel I have grown incredibly in my work in the last year. I think the main concept I am trying to express to my audience is that art is art. It doesn't matter if everyone likes it or nobody does. As long as it means something to you, then that's all that matters.
